Plans to institute Super Regional tournaments at two sites in the state volleyball playoffs were approved for the 2012-13 school year by the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Central Board of Control at its winter meeting this week.

LaGRANGE, Ga. – Rusty Cowley scored two goals and Dallas Thomas had two assists to lift the Huntingdon men’s soccer team in the Great South Athletic Conference semifinals on Friday…. The Huntingdon volleyball team picked up a win in its first match on Friday, but top-seeded Maryville was too much to overcome in the Great South Athletic Conference semifinals.

A rough start to the season ended on a high note on Saturday for Macon-East Montgomery’s volleyball team.

High as in the best season ever for the Lady Knights…

Macon-East finished off Lee-Scott Academy in the finals to earn the Alabama Independent School Association Class AAA state championship at Faulkner University’s Tine Davis Gym. It was the school’s first-ever title in volleyball.

The Faulkner Lady Eagles struck early and went on to claim a 1-0 win over Belhaven in soccer on Tuesday at John Mark Stallings Field.  The win secured a spot in the SSAC conference tournament in Gulfport, Miss., in mid November.. Faulkner needed a string of wins to close its Southern States Athletic Conference season in order to earn a spot in the league tournament. That win streak needed to begin Tuesday evening against division rival Mobile at Tine Davis Gym, but the visitors had other plans. The Lady Rams secured the win in straight sets 25-22, 25-18, 25-20

Faulkner opened its Southern States Athletic Conference West division season Tuesday losing to No. 22 Spring Hill. The Lady Eagles took the first set but the undefeated Badgers rebounded with three unanswered wins to claim the match, 23-25, 25-8, 25-11, 25-19.
