Faulkner falls in first volleyball division tilt

Faulkner opened its Southern States Athletic Conference West division season Tuesday losing to No. 22 Spring Hill. The Lady Eagles took the first set but the undefeated Badgers rebounded with three unanswered wins to claim the match, 23-25, 25-8, 25-11, 25-19.

MARION – Abby Brown, Diane Humphreys and Lauren Rozof combined for 20 kills as the Huntingdon College volleyball team beat Judson in three games on Tuesday. The Hawks won 25-18, 25-21, 25-17… The Huntingdon women’s golf team slipped two spots during the final round of the Piedmont Fall Invitational.

Faulkner closes out tourney with two wins

JACKSON, Miss. – After battling out of a huge deficit early Friday, Faulkner regained its composure and closed its second consecutive tournament with a 4-0 run. The Lady Eagles knocked out Rhodes College 25-18, 25-22, 20-25, 25-18 to start their efforts on Saturday before rocking Mississippi College in straight sets 25-16, 25-13, 26-24.

Edgewood Academy baseball coach Bobby Carr will conduct the ninth annual Elmore County Baseball Camp June 7-10 at Edgewood Academy… The Auburn University at Montgomery athletic department will offer a variety of summer camps for local youth this summer, including four sessions of basketball and soccer camp, two sessions of baseball and softball camps and four days of tennis camp for children and adults.

Individual participation requirements for four sports and a pilot program for assigning football playoff officials were addressed Wednesday at the annual spring meeting of the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Central Board of Control and a proposal involving recruiting of athletes was one of three passed by its Legislative Council.

LAKELAND, Fla. - The result was the same for the Faulkner women’s basketball team, but the way it went about earning its second victory in as many nights was totally different…. Faulkner was looking to close the regular season with a win tonight over west division rival Loyola University at Tine W. Davis gymnasium on Friday. The Wolfpack, however, had other plans and claimed the victory in straight sets 25-15, 25-19, 25-21.
