PREP CAPSULES: Region battles getting down to cases

Staff Report
(October 11, 2018)

The old addage of it’s time to fish or cut bait may not make a lot of sense to some, but for what it represents for local prep teams, it says everything about this week’s schedule.

No less than 12 games will play a major role in the playoff scenario, AHSAA or AISA, with only a couple of weeks of region play remaining.

Staff Report
(October 11, 2018)

PRESS PICKS: Nine is the number this week

Staff Report
(October 11, 2018)
Last week, the magic number was nine.

Actually, it wasn’t too magical in that six of the nine members of the panel got that many correct and that was the high watermark for the week.

(October 4, 2018)

Entering the backside of the regular season, there is a lot at stake for several teams.

PREP CAPSULES: Mid-season meetings include great rivalries

Staff Report

It is the unofficial mid-point of the season. That usually means everyone playing non-region games. And that’s true for the most part.

PRESS PICKS: Leaderboard stays the same

Staff Report
(September 26, 2018)

The leaderboard didn’t change with Tim Gayle still leading the way.

But the entire group enjoyed a good week of picks with Mike Peacock leading the way (13-2). He is part of a three-way tie for fifth.

ELMORE – Macon East Academy’s football team was at a crossroads in the season on Thursday night.

Senior quarterback Tucker Neven had suffered an injured collarbone that might have finished his high school career, a dysfunctional Macon East offense had stumbled through the motions and an inspired Edgewood Academy team had a one-point lead as the two teams made their way to their respective locker rooms.
