South girls get rare win in All-Star soccer

HUNTSVILLE –  Hoover High School rising senior Alex Morton scored two first-half goals as the North downed the South 7-1 in the Alabama All-Star Week boys soccer contest at John Hunt Complex.

The South girls opened 2010 All-Star Week earlier in the day with a 3-2 win over the North – just the South’s second win in the series and first since 2007. The North girls now own a 7-2-1 series advantage and the North Boys are 6-3-1 versus the South.

A schedule mix-up with the Huntsville hosts has necessitated a change in the scheduled times for Saturday’s AHSAA State Soccer Tournament finals at the John Hunt Soccer Complex. Friday’s semifinals are unaffected.

PRATTVILLE – Ashley Keller’s goal with just over six minutes gone proved to be enough to lift the Prattville girls soccer team to a berth in the AHSAA Class 6A state soccer finals in Huntsville.
