AHSAA PLAYOFFS: Wetumpka tops Julian for area title; MA advances to area final

Wetumpka 78, P. Julian 77 (OT)

WETUMPKA - Chris Robinson led the Indians with 20 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds and five turnovers in an overtime win over Percy Julian in the Class 6A, Area 4 tournament final on Monday.

Kaleb Ballard added 16 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks shots for the Indians, who move in the Class 6A South Sub-Regional against either Saraland or Murphy on Saturday.

Julian will face the loser of the game between Saraland and Murphy.

Montgomery Academy 78, Thorsby 45

The Eagles outscored Thorsby 27-9 in the first quarter and enjoyed a 46-21 lead at halftime on the way to the win in the Class 3A Area 5 tournament on Monday.

Jarrett Friendly led a balanced MA attack with 18 points, 14 rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocked shots. Braden Gordon added 15 points and sixrebounds while Mason Ellis chipped in 11 points, six assists and three steals. Will Renfroe added 10 points and nine rebounds, and 4 steals

MA improved to 22-7 overall and will face St. James in the area championship Wednesday at Montgomery Academy

Bibb County 58, Prattville Christian 50

CENTERVILLE - PCA’s season came to an end at the hands of Bibb County in the Class 4A, Area 6 tournament on Monday.
Carter Fiacco led the Panthers with 18 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. Cody Chapman added 18 points, five rebounds, and steals steals..

PCA ends the season with a record of 14-17.
