PREP FOOTBALL: Catholic flag shuts out Tallassee; PCA falls to Thorsby in football

Catholic 27, Tallassee 0

TALLASSEE -- Hayden Fitts threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Knights to a 27-0 shutout of the Tigers at J.E. “Hot” O’Brien Stadium on Monday.

Fitts completed 13 of 22 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 17 yards and a touchdown on three carries to lead the Knights to their sixth consecutive win.

Avery Sadler caught four passes for 55 yards and a touchdown, had a team-high five flag pulls on defense and recorded an interception for the Knights.

Maggie McNeely had four catches for 62 yards and Haley Ishman had two receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown.

Catholic (6-1) travels to Dothan today to play Northside Methodist Academy in the region opener.

Tallassee (5-2) plays host to Carroll in a region matchup on Thursday.

Billingsley 40, BTW Magnet 0

BILLINGSLEY -- Mia Schuffert threw three touchdown passes and ran for another to lead Billingsley to a 40-0 region victory over BTW Magnet on Monday.

Schuffert completed 8 of 17 passes for 60 yards and three touchdowns while throwing one interception and rushed for 10 yards and a touchdown on three carries to lead the Bears to their second region victory in three games.

JaKayla Harris had five receptions for 30 yards, rushed four times for 50 yards and a touchdown and had a team-high nine tackles on defense.Camia Sheppard had 16 yards and three touchdowns on eight receptions on offense and six stops on defense.

Kaliyah McCary had 16 yards on three receptions.

Defensively, Shariah Olds and Maya Schuffert had seven tackles each and Taliyah Moore had six.

Billingsley (4-4) plays host to Brew Tech today in a 1A-4A Region 4 game, while BTW Magnet travels to Marbury for a region game on Monday.

Holtville 26, Billingsley 12

HOLTVILLE -- Kali Ingram completed 8 of 13 passes for 153 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to a 26-12 win over Billingsley on Tuesday in a 1A-4A Region 4 game.

Anna Lawrence had two receptions for 75 yards, with both going for touchdowns, as the Bulldogs built a 20-0 halftime lead and scored the game’s first 26 points before the Bears scored a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

Braylin Langford had three catches for 33 yards while Baxie Goff added a 40-yard reception for a touchdown. Laylin Graham had eight tackles and an interception, Kennedy Ingram added six flag pulls and Hailey Phelps had three interceptions to lead the Holtville defense.

Mai Schuffert completed 19 of 37 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown for the Bears but was intercepted four times. Kaliyah McCary had six catches for 31 yards and JaKayla Harris had 46 yards and a touchdown on two receptions.

Taliyah Moore and Maya Schuffert each had seven stops to lead the Billingsley defense.

FOOTBALL

Thorsby 22, PCA 14

THORSBY - The Panthers fell behind early and was unable to catch up in a non-region game on Friday.

Nolan Stewart passed for a touchdown and Cooper Harris added two touchdowns for the Panthers (2-3).

PCA will play Thursday against Montgomery Academy.
