FLAG FOOTBALL UPDATE: Catholic shuts out Carver; Billingsley wins twice

Catholic 36, Carver 0

Catholic quarterbacks threw for three touchdowns and the Knights’ defense pitched its first shutout of the year in a 36-0 win over Carver on Tuesday afternoon at Catholic.

Hayden Fitts completed 11 of 18 passes for 110 yards and a pair of touchdowns and Charley Frank completed 3 of 4 passes for 35 yards and a touchdown as the Knights scored 16 points in the second quarter to take a 23-0 lead before turning it over to the reserves in the fourth quarter.

Fitts also rushed for 52 yards on eight carries and had three stops and an interception on defense.

Haley Ishman rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown on four carries and had a 15-yard touchdown reception as well.

Avery Sadler led the receiving corps with 48 yards on five receptions, while Frances Ann Rogers had 42 yards and a touchdown on four catches. Molly Dwyer added a 25-yard touchdown reception.

Sadler led the defense with four flag pulls.

Catholic (2-1) travels to Columbus, Ga., next week to play St. Anne Pacelli on Monday. Carver travels to Dothan on Thursday, then plays at Smiths Station next Thursday.

 

Billingsley 14, Greenville 0

BILLINGSLEY -- Mia Schuffert completed 25 of 30 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown, along with two interceptions, as the Billingsley defense pitched a shutout in a 14-0 win over Greenville on Tuesday.

Ella Fisher had 10 receptions for 85 yards to lead the Bears. Ja’Kayla Harris had five receptions for 9 yards and a touchdown and Maya Schuffert had four catches for 30 yards.

Defensively, Maya Schuffert and Harris each had five tackles to lead the Bears. Trinity Moore had three stops and a pair of interceptions.

Billingsley plays host to LAMP next Tuesday.  

 

Billingsley 24, Francis Marion 20

BILLINGSLEY -- Mia Schuffert completed 18 of 31 passes for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns along with a pair of interceptions in a 24-20 win over Francis Marion on Tuesday.

Maya Schuffert had 25 yards rushing on a pair of carries, along with four receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown. Ja’Kayla Harris had three catches for 25 yards and a touchdown, Trinity Moore had three receptions fro 40 yards and Ella Fisher had three receptions for 10 yards.

Defensively, Harris had nine flag pulls and three interceptions, while Moore also had an interception. Mia and Maya Schuffert each had seven stops, and Shariah Olds had six.
