FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: Hooper improves to 2-0; Autauga opens with win; Wetumpka handles Tallassee

Hooper Academy 56, Sparta Academy 0
EVERGREEN -- Damond Harrison rushed for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns on just three carries as the Colts dismantled Sparta Academy 56-0 on Friday night.
The 56-point margin of victory is the most since beating Calvary Christian 56-0 in 1989. The Colts are 2-0 for the first time since 2016 after beating Jackson 47-6 last week. The 103 points in the first two games are the most ever scored in the 57-year history of the program.
In addition to Harrison’s touchdowns, the Colts also got a rushing touchdown from both Brewer Garvin and Ayden Newman, who scored on a 49-yard run.
Hooper quarterback Hunter Bowman completed 3 of 4 passes for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Cohen Forster added a 20-yard touchdown pass as well. Jeremy Griggs, Peyton Stallings and Hari Im had touchdown receptions for the Colts.
Jaylen Lamons led the Hooper defense with eight tackles. Griggs also had a fumble return for a touchdown.
Hooper (2-0) improved to 1-0 in Region 1 play and returns home for the 2026 homer opener next Friday against Abbeville Christian at Davis-Henry Field.
Sparta (0-2, 0-1) travels to Prattville to play Autauga Academy next Friday.
Autauga Academy 53, Southern Prep 30
CAMP HILL -- The Generals made an impressive return to the Alabama Independent School Association ranks with a 53-30 romp over the Rangers on Friday night.
Autauga, a former AISA member, spent the last two years in the Alabama High School Athletic Association before electing in June to rejoin the AISA.
Lathan Rybarceck scored three touchdowns and Drez Lee scored twice to lead the Generals to a win in the 2026 season opener for both teams.
The game was also the Region 1 opener for both teams.
Autauga (1-0) returns home to play Sparta Academy next Friday, while Southern Prep (0-1) plays host to Valiant Cross.
Wetumpka 42, Tallassee 16
TALLASSEE --- Wetumpka scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to climb out to a 20-point lead on the way to a 42-16 win over the Tigers at J.E. “Hot” O’Brien Stadium on Friday night.
The Indians got on the scoreboard in the first quarter with a 26-yard touchdown run by Jordan Smoke, then pulled out to a 20-0 lead with a 4-yard run by Deon Floyd and a 7-yard touchdown pass from Charlie Skipper to Kaleb Ballard.
Abram Whittington gave the Tigers a little spark with a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and Channing Johnson added the extra point to trim the deficit to 20-7. Whittington finished with 134 yards on four kickoff returns.
Jordan Hill scored on a 14-yard run for the Indians and Christian Wilkes ran in the two-point conversion before Johnson’s 25-yard field goal made it 28-10 at the half.
Skipper, who completed 7 of 12 passes for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns, added a 36-yard touchdown pass to Parrick Davis in the third quarter for a 35-10 lead. Karsen Tate added an 8-yard scoring run for the Indians to make it 42-10 before the Tigers answered late with an 11-yard reception from Hunter Timmerman.
Trent Morris completed 17 of 30 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown while adding 15 carries for 39 yards. Hamp Love led the receiving corps with six catches for 53 yards. Milaki Griffin added 43 yards on five receptions.
Wetumpka (2-0) opens region play at home next week against Rehobeth, while Tallassee (0-2) opens region play at home against Holtville.
Edgewood 41, Crenshaw Christian 14
ELMORE - Levi Amerson, Colten Lashley and Jacorian Bruce each scored touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to their first win of the season, giving new coach Gregg Baker his first win at the helm.
Nick Rodopolous passed for three touchdowns for Edgewood (1-1).
The Wildcats travel to Lowndes Academy next Friday.
Prattville 68, Stanhope Elmore 14
MILLBROOK -- Will McKay accounted for five touchdowns and the Lions unleashed a nine-touchdown barrage against the Mustangs to defeat Stanhope Elmore 68-14 at 17 Springs on Friday night.
The 68 points scored by the Lions are the most since beating Wetumpka 71-12 in 2011 and the 117 points scored in the first two games of the season are the most in school history.
The 68 points allowed by Stanhope Elmore are the most in school history and the 54-point margin of defeat is the worst in school history.
McKay completed 16 of 20 passes for 376 yards and four touchdowns with one interception. DeShawn Hall had five receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown, Colby King had four catches for 123 yards and a touchdown, Christian Alexander had three receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown and Hayden Fannin pulled in a 24-yard touchdown reception from Tobias Bell on his only catch of the game.
C.J. Brown led the rushing attack with 50 yards and a touchdown on six carries, while Marterrius Sankey added 17 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Jaiden Crenshaw had seven yards and a touchdown on five carries.
Defensively, Jayden Aperico-Bailey had an interception, a fumble caused, two tackles and a tackle for loss. Christian Lawson had three tackles, including a tackle for loss and an interception. Jason Crenshaw had three tackles, including two tackles for loss. Jamichael Smith had three tackles, including a tackle for loss and a 37-yard interception return for a touchdown.
Prattville (2-0) returns home for the 2026 home opener in a 6A Region 3 matchup with Tuscaloosa County at Stanley-Jensen Stadium next Friday. Stanhope Elmore (0-1) remains home to play Russell County in a 5A Region 2 game at 17 Springs next Friday.
Pike Road 45, Hueytown 14
PIKE ROAD - Quinton Robinson ran for two touchdowns and Gunner Gibbs added a touchdown pass as the Patriots cruised to the win on Friday.
Tavaris Capurs and Briece Baker each had touchdown runs. Marquette Allen had a touchdown reception of 30 yards. Camden Davis kicked a 39-yard field goal.
The Pike Road defense also got into the scoring column with a safety and a Pick-6 from Adien Baker.
The Patriots (1-1) open Class 5A Region 2 at home against Percy Julian next Friday.
Alabama Christian 41, Georgiana 0
GEORGIANA -- Micah Merritt ran for three touchdowns as the Eagles broke open a tight game with two touchdowns in each of the last three quarters to give Alabama Christian a 41-0 win over Georgiana on Friday night.
The 41-point victory was the largest by the Eagles since beating Wicksburg 64-19 in 2024 and the shutout was the first since defeating Prattville Christian in 2024.
Merritt rushed for 134 yards on 12 carries, breaking a scoreless tie with a 13-yard touchdown run eight seconds into the second quarter. Mason Henry threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Levi Summers with 22 seconds left to give ACA a 13-0 lead at the half.
Merritt added scoring runs of 66 and 1 yard for a 27-0 lead and Mekhi Gardner scored on a 4-yard run and Ethan Dabney added a 10-yard run to close out the scoring.
Gardner added 52 yards on seven carries, while Carlos Smith had 32 yards on six carries. Henry completed 11 of 16 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown. He was intercepted once.
Dabney led the receivers with 56 yards on four carries. Summers had three receptions for 29 yards and a touchdown and Beau Gainey had two catches for 35 yards.
Defensively, Keenan McCarthy and Landon Widmer led the Eagles with seven tackles each. Aidan Whiten and LaDarius Walters added five tackles each. Summers and Tyler Money each had interceptions for ACA.
Alabama Christian (1-1) travels to McLemore Field next Friday to play Montgomery Academy in the Class A Private Region 2 opener for both teams.
Holtville 34, Shelby County 33
HOLTVILLE - The Bulldogs earned their first win of the season in a back-and-fourth game that had four lead changes.
Daishaun Zeigler led the charge with 122 yards and two touchdowns while Gavin Russum passed for 74 yards and rushed for 36, scoring twice to lead the Bulldogs. Parker Pressley had 36 yards and a score in receiving.
Napoleon Goodson led the Holtville defense with 11 tackles and Kohan Mann had a fumble recovery.
Holtville (1-1) goes to Tallassee to open Class 4A Region 4 play next week.
