FRIDAY NIGHT RECAP (Week 4): JAG earns first win; Marbury stays unbeaten; Wetumpka falls

JAG 29, Smiths Station 12
The Jaguars rushed for a combined 257 yards among six different ball carriers to earn their first win of the season on a rainy evening at Cramton Bowl on Friday.
Christian Williams led the way with 118 yards and three touchdowns to lead JAG, which ended the teams’ seven-game losing streak dating back to last season. He scored on runs of 14 yards, eight yards and 38 yards.
Christian Jackson added 80 yards rushing and added 72 yards passing including a 24-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Williams in the second quarter.
JAG’s first points came after a fumble on the opening kickoff. The Jaguars topped off a six-play drive with Williams’ first score of the night.
The Jaguars added a safety in the fourth period on a tackle on Trevon Kee in the end zone.
Kee and Stathen Kienzle had touchdown runs for Smiths Station, which is still looking for its first win of the season.
JAG (1-2, 1-1 6A R 2) travels to Opelika next week. Smiths Station (0-4, 0-2) plays host to Carver.
St. James 15, Fort Dale Academy 0
Cameron Hartley rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown to lead the Trojans to a win over Ft. Dale Academy in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
The St. James special teams had the other points with Conner Adams blocking a punt in the Ft. Dale end zone and the punt team earning a safety on a tackle in the end zone.
Michael Hassell was 3 of 7 for 32 yards passing. The Trojans defense held the Eagles to just 26 yards rushing.
St. James (2-2, 2-0 Private A, Region 2) visits Montgomery Academy while Ft. Dale (1-2, 0-1) travels to Trinity next week.
Marbury 47, Tallassee 21
MARBURY - The Bulldogs held a 20-7 lead at halftime and then exploded to a 34-7 lead in the third quarter on the way to the fourth-straight win to start the 2026 season.
Alexander Hamby had two first-half touchdown runs of 1 and 6 yards. Jaiden Brewer scored on a 24-yard scamper and John Jenkins added a 1-yard run as Marbury scored 27 points in the third quarter.
Camden Bryson passed for two scores in the period including a 10-yard strike to Cole Kenyon and a 14-yard pass to Jahanthony Morrell. Dysen Mangham converted on each of the point-after tries.
Tallassee got its first points in the first quarter on an interception and return by Abram Whittington, the covered 96 yards the tied the game at 7-7.
Milaki Griffin had a 97-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter and Kaleb Jackson added a 33-yard fumble return for a score in the fourth.
Morrell had three receptions for 67 yards and two touchdowns to lead Marbury. Jamar Brown added an interception for the Marbury defense.
Trent Morris had 79 yards passing for the Tallassee offense.
Marbury is 4-0 for the first time since 2011 and will travel to Beauregard next Friday. Tallassee (0-4, 0-2) will play host to Greenville.
Russell County 32, Wetumpka 29
WETUMPKA - Carson Tate passed for two scores and added another on a run but the Indians could not catch the Warriors in a key Class 5A, Region 2 game at the Municipal Stadium on Friday.
Charlie Skipper passed for another touchdown to Deon Floyd while Kaleb Ballard had two touchdown receptions for the Indians, who lost for the first time this season.
Wetumpka (3-1, 1-1) faces Percy Julian next week while Russell County (4-0, 2-0) hosts Benjamin Russell.
