FRIDAY PREP RECAP (Week 4): Pike Road roars past Wetumpka; Carver sinks Smiths; MA stays unbeaten

Pike Road 29, Wetumpka 6
WETUMPKA - Omari Smith’s 51-yard touchdown run in the first quarter sparked the Pike Road Patriots to a win over Wetumpka in Class 6A, Region 2 action on Friday.
The Indians answered the score with a Charlie Skipper 15-yard touchdown pass to Camden Crittendon but missed the extra point attempt.
Jordan Holmes gave the Patriots the lead for good with a 7-yard run in the second quarter.
Smith extended the lead with a 49-yard reception from quarterback Gunnar Gibbs in the third quarter.
Mike Jones added an 11-yard run for a score. He finished with 119 yards on 17 carries.
Smith had 164 yards in total offense and two touchdowns. Braylon Outlaw led the Patriots defense with 10 tackles and an interception.
Skipper was 10 of 17 passing for 77 yards and a touchdown for the Indians.
Pike Road (3-1, 2-0) plays Saturday at 6 p.m. at Cramton Bowl against Percy Julian while Wetumpka (1-3, 0-2) travels to Rehobeth on Friday.
G.W. Carver 47, Smiths Station 0
The Wolverines got four touchdown passes from Zion Crumpton while the defense held Smiths Station to minus-51 yards in total offense in a win at Cramton Bowl on Friday.
Crumpton had touchdown passes of 55 yards to Mekhi Williams, 8 yards to JaCorey Smith and 5 yards to Elijah Peake. Elijah Tarver added an 18-yard run for a score.
Crumpton totaled 96 yards in passing.
Camare Jackson had a 70-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the second half.
Smiths Station had two bad snaps on punts that totaled mins-34 yards. The Panthers had minus-14 yards from scrimmage with running back Luke Sexton the only player with positive yards, 35 yards rushing.
Carver (3-1, 2-0 6A, Region 2)) faces Dothan at Cramton Bowl next Friday. Smiths Station (1-3, 0-2) plays host to Opelika.
Montgomery Academy 14, Wicksburg 9
Reid McBride and Braden Gordon teamed up for both touchdowns to keep the Eagles undefeated and earn a revenge victory over Wicksburg Friday at McLemore Field.
McBride finished 10-of-14 for 175 yards passing. Gordon had 94 yards on three catches. He also had 49 yards rushing.
Jarrett Friendly added 60 yards in receptions on three catches.
Knox Wingate led the MA defense with 13 tackles while William Marks added nine tackles, a pass breakup and two tackles for loss. Gordon had eight tackles including one for a loss.
MA had lost to Wicksburg last season, their only region loss of the year.
The Eagles (4-0, 2-0 Class 3A Region 2) travels to Northside Methodist next Friday.
Stanhope Elmore 33, Park Crossing 0
MILLBROOK - Dee Barnes scored four touchdowns and rushed for 235 yards to lead the Mustangs to their second Class 6A Region 2 win on Friday at 17 Springs.
Backup quarterback Deondre Washington added a touchdown, a 25-yard run for the Mustangs.
The win was the second shutout of the season for Stanhope Elmore, which beat Julian 40-0 last week.
Park Crossing saw its losing streak increase to 16 games, falling to 0-3 and 0-2 in region play.
The Mustangs (3-1, 2-0) return to action on Sept. 26 to face Smiths Station while Park Crossing will face Russell County next Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Cramton Bowl.
Booker T. Washington 17, Tallassee 14
TALLASSEE - The Golden Eagles scored 11 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to come from behind to beat Tallassee in a key Class 4A, Region 3 game at J.E. “Hot” O’Brien Stadium on Friday.
Michah Bedgood kicked a 20-yard field goal with just 15 second remaining in the game to complete the comeback. Tallassee had held a 14-0 lead at halftime.
John Carter opened the scoring with a 24-yard pass to Cortland Roberts in the first quarter. Jaiden Gordon added to the Tallassee lead with a 2-yard run in the second period. But the offenses stalled at that point.
BTW scored on a fumble return before the half. The Eagles got a Marquez Daniel 1-yard run for a score and a pass for touchdown to Daundrey Robinson in the fourth quarter, setting up the game-winning field goal.
Gordon had 53 yards rushing on 13 carries to lead the Tallassee offense.
Tallassee (2-2, 1-1) goes on the road for the first time this season next Friday to face Bullock County.
Prattville Christian 34, Northside Methodist 14
DOTHAN - Nolan Stewart passed for 186 yards and three touchdowns to help PCA earn its first victory of the season and give new coach Shane Moye his first win as the Panthers’ coach.
Tyson Houston scored two times with a 9-yard run in the first quarter and then a 30-yard reception in the second quarter. Cody Chapman also added two scores on two receptions of 12 and 6 yards.
Will Roy added a 1-yard run for PCA’s final points of the night. He led the Panthers with 120 yards rushing on 21 carries. Houston added 105 yards in total offense. Carter Copeland had seven tackles to lead the defense. James Little had an interception while Mason Roosendaal had a fumble recovery.
PCA (1-3, 1-1) returns home to face Alabama Christian next Friday.
Elmore County 31, Holtville 7
HOLTVILLE - The Panthers scored 31 unanswered points to earn an important win over rival Holtville on Friday at Boykin-Chapman Field.
Gage Davis passed for 221 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Panthers. Both touchdown passes were to Thomas Payton. Beau Taylor added a touchdown run while Tate McNeely had a punt return for a touchdown.
Holtville’s lone score came on a Jay Lucas run of 29 yards.
Bulldogs’ quarterback Jacob Burgess finished with 147 yards passing while Deishaun Zeigler had 71 yards rushing.
Elmore County (3-1, 2-0 Class 5A, Region 4) returns home next Friday to face Beauregard.
The Bulldogs (2-2, 1-1) are off next week before heading to Maplesville on Sept. 26.
