PRESS PICKS: Questionable calls made another appearance in a key SEC game
STAFF REPORT
The “blame game” has reared its ugly head again.
It pops up every weekend, particularly in big games that are close.
Hence, the Alabama-Georgia outcome depended on a couple of key plays that “could” have changed the outcome, a three-point UGA victory.
We’ve all seen the replay… K.J. Bolden seemed to interfere with Bama receiver Rico Scott in the end zone. Had the flag been thrown, the Tide would have been awarded a first down and pul well within field goal range to the score.
Instead, no flag was thrown and Bama fans, understandably, were livid. There were a few other “non'-calls”
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey was asked about it and refused to comment stating all games have plays like that.
Certain fans took exception but if you grew up with one or more siblings, you understand mamma ain’t gonna take sides.
But the truth is, Georgia played a little bit better than the Tide. They controlled the football hence this stat…
Georgia had eight possessions, scored on five, punted twice and the final one ended with a kneel down…. Perfect summary of how old style football used to be played… winning football.
That’s no shot a the Tide. And the fans are now enamored with Kalen DeBoer thanks to a butt chewing he gace to Dijon Lee after a personal foul call at the end of the game. Of course that will last until he loses another game and then all bets are off.
The season is halfway finished but one thing is certain - Alabama football, while not back to the days of Saban - looks a little better, thanks to a loss and a coach that chewed up a player.
All is right again.
