PREP HOOPS: ACA girls topple Elmore County; Hooper sweeps Chambers

Alabama Christian 40, Elmore County 35
ECLECTIC -- Adalyn Newkirk had 11 first-half points, along with eight rebounds and three steals, to lead the Eagles to a 40-35 win over Elmore County on Monday.
Addison Smith added 10 points, nine rebounds, five steals and three assists, followed by Campbell Hammett with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists. Sam Burgess added seven points, including a crucial 3-pointer in the fourth quarter to hold off the Panthers.
Cherish Faye led Elmore County (3-8) with 16 points, followed by Marley Hicks with 10.
Alabama Christian (5-4) travels to Reeltown on Thursday.
Hooper Academy 38, Chambers Academy 34
HOPE HULL -- Hooper Academy rallied in the third quarter by holding Chambers to just five points as the Colts won their fourth consecutive game with a 38-34 win over the Rebels in Darrell Self Gym on Monday night.
Marilyn Fleming led the Colts with 10 points, followed by Katie Robinson and Henlee Garvin with eight points each and Jade Taylor with seven.
Madison Stanford led Chambers with 14 points.
Hooper (7-4) travels to Greensboro on Thursday to play in the Southern Academy Christmas Tournament.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Hooper Academy 60, Chambers Academy 58 (OT)
HOPE HULL --Trey Davenport scored four of his 11 points in overtime, including a crucial 3-pointer that helped the Colts to a 60-58 overtime win against the Rebels at Darrell Self Gym on Monday night.
Kingston White scored 10 of his team-high 16 points in the first quarter as Hooper raced out to a 19-10 lead, but the Rebels rallied in the fourth quarter with an 18-point outburst to tie the game at 53-53 and force overtime.
Jeremy Griggs added 14 points, followed by Davenport with 11, Jacoby Rabb with eight and Ayden Newman with seven.
Christian Terry led Chambers with 27 points, followed by Hunter Andrews and Jake Reames with 12 points each.
Hooper (8-3) travels to Greensboro on Thursday to play in the Southern Academy Christmas Tournament.
