PREP HOOPS: MA sweeps Pike Road; Hooper boys top Lakeside

Hooper Academy 53, Lakeside School 37

EUFAULA -- Kingston White scored 20 points to lead the Colts to a season sweep of the Chiefs with a 53-37 victory on Monday night in the Lakeside gym.

White and Tramen Davenport, who had a pair of 3-pointers, each scored six points in the first quarter as the Colts fired out to a 16-9 lead, a margin they would maintain the remainder of the first half before extending the lead in the third quarter.

Davenport and Jacoby Rabb followed White in scoring with eight points each. Jeremy Griggs added seven.

Ladarius Walker led Lakeside with 15 points, followed by Jamez Curry with 14.

Hooper Academy (3-1) will travel to Lowndesboro to play in the Tri-County Tournament on Thursday and Friday.

Montgomery Academy 65, Pike Road 55

Robert McGaughey led the Eagles with 25 points, including five three pointers to power MA to a win on Monday. He added six rebounds.

Will Renfroe added 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Braden Gordon added 10 points, had seven assists, and seven rebounds while Jarrett Friendly chipped in six points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and two blocks.

Caleb Myles added six points, six rebounds and two steals. 

MA improves to 2-2 overall with the win and will travel to rival Trinity Friday night before hosting 7A Huntsville on Saturday.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lakeside School 36, Hooper Academy 23

EUFAULA -- The Chiefs used a strong second quarter to defeat the Colts on Monday, outscoring Hooper 11-2 to open up a 19-9 lead at the half on the way to a 36-23 victory.

Jenna Conway scored 10 points and Jordan Conway added seven to lead the Colts.

Sophie Seaborn had 10 points and Addysen Eriksen scored nine to lead the Chiefs.

Hooper Academy (2-4) will travel to Lowndesboro to play in the Tri-County Tournament on Thursday and Friday. 

Montgomery Aca 58, Pike Road 48

PIKE ROAD -In a rematch of the semifinal of the Larry Chapman Tournament. it was the Lady Eagles that earned the 58-48 win at the Pike Road gym.

MA was paced by Kaci Armistead, with 16 points, hitting 9-of-12 from the free throw line. She added two assists and a steal. Garland Thomas scored 12 points, all in the 2nd half.
EG Hines had a season high 10 points with seven rebounds. Addison Kitchens scored nine points off the bench.
MA improves to 2-2, and will play at rival Trinity on Friday.
