PREP HOOPS: PCA boys, girls open with wins

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Winterboro 48, Trinity 43

Ellie Causey hit nine 3-pointers and finished with 28 points for Trinity, but the Wildcats dropped their second consecutive game in the St. James Tip Off Classic on Saturday.

Lilly Smith added six points, nine rebounds and five assists for Trinity (0-2), which returns to action on Nov. 17 at Brewbaker Tech.

Hewitt-Trussville 57, Trinity 53

Ellie Causey had 21 points and four rebounds for Trinity as the three-time defending state champion opened the 2025-26 season with a hard-fought loss to Hewitt-Trussville in the opening round of the St. James Tip Off Classic on Friday.

Lilly Smith scored 14 points, along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Emory Causey added nine points for the Wildcats.

Trinity (0-1) returned to action in the tournament on Saturday with a game against Winterboro.   

Prattville Christian 56, Breakthrough Charter 7

PRATTVILLE -- Baylee Rogers finished with 16 points, nine steals and four assists to lead the Panthers to a 49-point victory in the 2025-26 season opener in the PCA gym on Friday.

Leah Cate Wilson added 12 points and five rebounds, Reagan Houston had nine points and five rebounds, Laney Little added five points and five rebounds and Avery Mann had five points and four steals. Parker Moye scored four points and Mitra Mora scored three points. Chelsea Cutler added nine steals and four rebounds and Kayleigh Arthur had five steals.

PCA (1-0) will travel to Millbrook to play Stanhope Elmore on Monday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Prattville Christian 79, Breakthrough Charter 28

PRATTVILLE -- Carter Fiacco had 30 points, seven rebounds and five steals to lead Prattville Christian to an easy victory over Breakthrough Charter in the 2025-26 season opener in the PCA gym on Friday.

Cody Chapman added 24 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and seven steals, followed by Justin Chapman with seven points, eight rebounds and five steals, Wade Mora with six points, 11 rebounds, three steals and three blocks and Ethan Girlie with five points and five assists. CJ Robinson added four points and nine rebounds and Ethan Kiefer had three points and three steals.

PCA (1-0) will travel to Millbrook to play Stanhope Elmore on Monday.

In the junior varsity game, Ethan Kinne led PCA with eight points, five steals and four rebounds in a 39-23 loss to Breakthrough Charter. Carter Montgomery added six points, three rebounds and three steals and Austin Baxley had four points and seven rebounds. Jayvion McMillion grabbed 11 rebounds. Easton Carr had five steals and Nolan Currier had three for PCA (0-1).
