PREP HOOPS: PCA boys take out Brew Tech; ACA slips past Autauga; Catholic girls top MA

BOYS BASKETBALL

Prattville Christian 73, Brew Tech 57

PRATTVILLE -- Carter Fiacco scored 27 points and pulled down four rebounds to lead the Panthers to a 73-57 win over the Rams in the PCA gym on Friday night.

Cody Chapman added 19 points, five rebounds and four assists. Justin Chapman had 16 rebounds, five assists and took three charges. Ethan Girlie added 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. CJ Robinson had eight points and nine rebounds and Ethan Kiefer added seven points and five rebounds. PCA (5-7) will travel to play Greenville on Saturday.

 

Alabama Christian 51, Autauga Academy 49

PRATTVILLE -- Levi Summers hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Eagles a 51-49 win over the Generals in the Autauga Academy gym on Friday night.

Summers finished with 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles, scoring 11 of his 13 points in the second half with the help of three 3-pointers.

Christian Snipes led Alabama Christian with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Ethan Capps added 11 points and five rebounds and Mason Henry had nine points.

Noah Turner and Cam Wright each had 13 points to lead Autauga (3-3).

Alabama Christian (4-5) will play host to Trinity on Saturday before traveling to Reeltown on Thursday.

 

Trinity 60, LAMP 42

The Wildcats shook off a bad first quarter with 21 second-quarter points to rally past LAMP and defeat the Golden Tigers in the 4A Area 5 opener for both teams on Friday at Captain Jack Court.

LAMP got six points from Braden Teague and four from Micha Pierce to grab a 16-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Wildcats outscored the Tigers 21-6 in the second quarter to grab control of the game.

Mackin Roth led Trinity with 14 points, hitting four 3-pointers in the first three quarters. Kamari Hutson and Charlie Reese each added 11 points each, followed by Walter McKee with eight.

Pierce finished with 13 points to lead the Golden Tigers, followed by Teague with 12.

Trinity (5-5, 1-0 in area play) will take a week off before playing BTW Magnet on Thursday in the opening round of the 31st Jack Schweers Capital City Conference Tournament at Trinity.

 

Hooper Academy 60, Escambia Academy 41

HOPE HULL -- Kingston White scored 24 points to lead Hooper to a convincing win over Escambia 60-41 in Darrell Self Gym on Friday night.

Hooper (7-3)  remains home to play Chambers Academy on Monday, then travels to Greensboro to play in the Southern Academy Christmas Tournament on Thursday and Friday.

Evangel Christian  56, Ezekiel Academy 47

SELMA -- Nathaniel Doss scored 14 points to lead Evangel over Ezekiel Academy at the Morgan Academy Christmas Tournament on Friday.

Doss finished with one assist, four rebounds and four steals.

Damon Petty added 12 points, four assists and two steals while D'John Wright chipped in nine points, three assists, three rebounds and a steal.

The Lions (3-2) will take on Macon East in the championship game on Saturday.

Montgomery Academy 69, Catholic 46

Montgomery Academy struggled to handle Catholic’s defense in the first quarter, but managed to build that lead to 16 points at halftime and 19 points in the third quarter as the Eagles outscored the Knights 33-6 from the 3-point line on the way to a 69-46 victory on Thursday night.

Jarrett Friendly had 15 points, 13 rebounds, four blocked shots and three assists, while Braden Gordon had 15 points, nine rebounds, two blocked shots and three assists and Mason Ellis had 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a pair of blocked shots.

JayJay Jackson added eight points, three assists and four steals, followed by Paxton Haigler with five points and three rebounds and Will Renfroe with three points and nine rebounds.

Montgomery Academy (6-2) will take a break for exams and resume play next Friday against Oak Mountain in the opening round of the Battle for the Board at Orange Beach.

Catholic (2-4) will travel to St. James on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Catholic but was moved due to a scheduling conflict.

 

Cullman 61, Pike Road 51

Braylon Barker had 19 points, nine rebounds and three assists to lead the Patriots in Pike Road’s 61-51 loss to Cullman in the Pike Road gym on Thursday night.

Kody Perry-Calhoun added 17 points for Pike Road, which had a three-game winning streak snapped, while Jamall Canty had six points, five rebounds and five assists.  

Pike Road (8-3) travels to Troy to play Charles Henderson on Saturday, then travels to Brew Tech om Thursday.

 

Francis Marion 77, Billingsley 48

BILLINGSLEY -- Francis Marion jumped out to a seven-point lead in the first quarter and used a 23-12 run in the second quarter to extend the lead to 44-26 on the way to a 29-point loss by the Bears in the area opener on Tuesday.

Dequavion Ray led Billingsley with nine points, eight rebounds and two steals, while Jake Rawlinson also had nine points and eight rebounds. Kyson Thomas had seven points and five rebounds and Kaden Cotton had seven points, five rebounds and a pair of assists.

Billingsley (2-6, 0-1 in area play) has an area game with Breakthrough Charter on Thursday night, then travels to Isabella on Monday and Autauga Academy on Tuesday.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Alabama Christian 50, Autauga Academy 12

PRATTVILLE -- Campbell Hammett had 14 points, nine steals and six rebounds as the Eagles overwhelmed winless Autauga Academy 50-12 in the Generals’ gym on Friday night.

Adalyn Newkirk added six points, four steals and three rebounds, followed by Addison Smith with five points and four steals and Sam Burgess with five points, 10 steals and four rebounds.

Chandler Henry led Autauga (0-6) with eight points.

Alabama Christian (4-4) will travel to Reeltown next Thursday.

 

Hooper Academy 42, Escambia Academy 39

HOPE HULL -- Henlee Garvin scored all of her team’s points in the second quarter as the Colts won their third straight game with a 42-39 victory over Escambia in Darrell Self Gym on Friday night.

Garvin scored 23 points, including 16 in the second quarter, to help the Colts build a 26-15 lead at the half before holding off a furious rally in the final minutes.

Katie Robinson added nine points for the Colts, followed by Marilyn Fleming with eight.

Hooper Academy (6-4) will play host to Chambers Academy on Monday.

 

Brew Tech 37, Prattville Christian 21

PRATTVILLE -- Leah Cate Wilson led the Panthers with nine points and eight rebounds in a 37-21 loss to the Rams in the PCA gym on Friday.

Laney Little added four points and 10 rebounds, while Baylee Rogers had five rebounds and five assists. Reagan Houston added four points and five rebounds, followed by Avery Mann with three points and nine rebounds.

PCA (4-8) will travel to play Greenville on Saturday.

Catholic 82, Montgomery Academy 29

Hannah Smith scored 37 points to lead Catholic to an 82-29 win over Montgomery Academy on Thursday night.

Bailey Davis had a team-high 11 points for the Eagles, along with three deflections. Garland Thomas added eight points, two steals and a deflection.

Montgomery Academy (3-5) will resume play on Thursday at UMS-Wright in the William Mitchell Holiday Classic, where they will face Clarke County in the opening round of the tournament.

Catholic (5-1) will travel to St. James on Saturday at 1 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Catholic but was moved after a scheduling conflict.
