PREP RECAP: Reeltown football downs Trinity; Billingsley falls; MA wins in volleyball
COMBINED REPORTS
FOOTBALL
Reeltown 34, Trinity 6
REELTOWN -- Reeltown jumped on Trinity early, then cruised in the second half to a 34-6 win over the Wildcats at Nix-Webster-O’Neal Stadium on Thursday night.
The defending 2A state champions led Trinity 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and 21-0 at the half as the Wildcat offense continued to struggle.
Senior safety Reed Daniel came up with a big interception on the Rebels’ first possession of the second half, injecting some life into the Wildcat offense. For the second consecutive year, head coach Brian Seymore made the move to put his backup freshman quarterback into the starting lineup and Land Sharpless promptly responded with a touchdown pass to Luke Hall to trim the deficit to 21-6.
The Rebels added touchdowns late in the third quarter and again in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Reeltown (1-1) rebounded from last week’s loss to T.R. Miller with an impressive showing against the Wildcats and will face Horseshoe Bend in the region opener next week. Last year, the Rebels lost to T.R. Miller and used the Trinity game as a springboard to 14 consecutive wins and the state championship.
Trinity (1-1) will open region play at home next Friday, playing host to Prattville Christian at Ragsdale-Boykin Field.
Fayetteville 43, Billingsley 40
SYLACAUGA -- Kyle Boice rushed for three touchdowns and Kaden Cotton rushed for three more, but it wasn’t enough as Fayetteville held off Billingsley 43-40 on Thursday night.

Defensively, linebacker Caleb Massey had 20 tackles, including three for loss and a sack. Boice also had 14 tackles from his linebacker position, while defensive lineman Jake Rawlinson and linebacker Kyson Thomas each had eight tackles.
Fayetteville (2-0) opens area play at Wadley next Friday, while Billingsley (1-1) returns to action with another Thursday game, playing host to Autauga Academy next week.
