PREP UPDATE: Catholic baseball tops Montgomery Academy; Brew Tech softball has perfect tourney

BASEBALL

Catholic 17, Montgomery Academy 10

Montgomery Academy jumped out to a 10-1 lead through the first four innings before faltering late in a 17-10 loss to the Knights at Catholic on Monday afternoon.

Reid McBride went 3 for 4 with two RBIs to lead the Eagles. Finley Haigler went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Haigler was also the starting pitcher, allowing no runs and striking out four in two innings. Gaige Vinson threw two innings and allowed no earned runs. He also had a double and an RBI. Kingston Nelson and William Marks both had RBIs with Marks scoring three times. Hays Marks had two hits and two runs scored.

 

SOFTBALL

Brew Tech finishes 3-0 in Lions Classic

The Lady Rams went 3-0 in the Prattville Lions Classic picking up wins against Sylacauga, Calera and Benjamin Russell.

Eighth Grader Ericianna Ellis set the tone from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-7 with five runs scored, three RBIs, three walks, a double, and a stolen base.

Senior Kyra Wallace was 3-for-6 with seven RBIs and three walks at the plate while also earning two wins in the circle. Over eight total innings she recorded 12 strikeouts and only allowed two hits and only allowed one unearned run.

Sophomore Reese Woody came through in the biggest moment against Calera with a clutch double, finishing with three RBIs, a double, and two runs scored.

Freshman Jaelyn Bolling added three hits, scoring three runs, an RBI, a triple, and a stolen base

Junior Kaymarria Bandy was 2-for-6 with three RBIs, three walks, and a double.

The Rams play Thursday at Stanhope Elmore.

Catholic 12, Alabama Christian 11

The Knights scored five runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth to erase a 7-3 deficit and defeat the Eagles 12-11 at Catholic on Monday afternoon.

Hayden Fitts went 3 for 3, scoring three runs and drove in one to lead the Knights. Haley Ishman went 2 for 4 and scored a pair of runs, Gabby Eady went 2 for 3, scored a run and had three RBIs and Riley Hudson went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and scored twice. Kamryn Iverson went 1 for 3 and had three RBIs as well.

Eady pitched the first four innings, allowing six hits and five runs, four earned. Jadyn Simmons picked up the win, allowing three hits and six runs, three earned, over the final three innings.

Campbell Hammett led ACA, going 2 for 4 with four runs scored. Peri Laine Holley went 2 for 2 and scored a pair of runs, Bentley Lamberth went 1 for 3, scored a run and drove in three runs and Elizabeth Hall went 2 for 3 with four RBIs and scored a run.

Adalee Lincoln pitched the final two innings, allowing five hits and nine runs, four earned. Maddie Owens pitched the first four innings, allowing five hits and three runs, one earned.

 

Catholic 8, Jemison 1

PRATTVILLE -- Riley Hudson went 1 for 3 with three RBIs and scored a run to lead the Knights to an 8-1 win over Jemison in the Lions Classic on Friday.

Hayden Fitts, Anna Hill, Haley Ishman, Gabby Eady and Peyton Dees all had hits for the Knights.

Jadyn Simmons picked up the win in three innings of work, allowing two hits and a run, none earned.

 

Catholic 8, Lee-Scott Academy 2

PRATTVILLE -- Gabby Eady went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and a double and Haley Ishman went 2 for 4 with a solo home run to lead the Knights to an 8-2 win over the Warriors in the Lions Classic on Friday.

Kamryn Iverson and Jadyn Simmons each had two hits for the Knights and Simmons had two RBIs.

Eady picked up the win in the circle, allowing five hits and two runs, one earned, in five innings.   

 

Catholic 16, Billingsley 1

PRATTVILLE -- Gabby Eady and Jadyn Simmons each drove in three runs to lead the Knights to a 16-1 win over the Bears in the Lions Classic on Friday.

Eady went 2 for 3 with a double and Simmons went 1 for 2 and scored a run. Haley Ishman, Riley Hudson and Peyton Dees each had two hits.

Taliyah Moore went 1 for 2 and drove in the Bears’ only run.

 

Billingsley 8, Montgomery Academy 7

PRATTVILLE -- Addyson Raines tripled in a pair of runs in the sixth inning, rallying Billingsley to an 8-7 win over Montgomery Academy on Friday.

Davis Anne Fitzpatrick went 3 for 3 to lead the Eagles, including a double in the third inning.

E.G. Hines doubled in a run in the third inning to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, but the Bears rallied with six runs in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by a two-run single by Kinsley Cotton.

Montgomery Academy tied the game with five runs on two hits in the fourth, with two more runs scoring on an error. Fitzpatrick singled in a run and Hines singled in two runs.

Montgomery Academy broke the tie in the sixth inning, scoring on an error for a 7-6 lead.

Fitzpatrick pitched the first 5.2 innings for the Eagles, allowing eight hits and eight runs, two earned, while striking out six and walking one.

Raines, Cotton and Ella Fisher each drove in two runs for the Bears.

 

Jemison 9, Montgomery Academy 2

Montgomery Academy took an early lead but Jemison scored three runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the second on the way to an easy 9-2 win.

E.K. Casey went 2 for 2 and drove in a run to lead the Eagles.

Ellie Steen took the loss for Montgomery Academy, surrendering 10 runs, five earned, on nine hits in 3.2 innings.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

Lee-Scott Academy 7, Montgomery Academy 0

AUBURN -- Montgomery Academy was shut out at Lee-Scott on Friday, getting off four shots on goal but failing to score.

Goalkeeper Ella Chamblee handled 16 shots on goal, recording  seven saves.
