PREP UPDATE: St. James softball tops Mary Montgomery; Pike Liberal

SOFTBALL

St. James 5, Mary Montgomery 2

Mary Olive Maddox went 2 for 3, scored a run and drove in two more to lead the Trojans to a 5-2 win over the Vikings in the Alex Wilcox FCA Softball Tournament on Saturday morning at Lagoon Park Softball Complex.

The Trojans rallied from a 1-0 deficit with three runs in the third inning and added two more in the fifth after Mary Montgomery scored a run in the top half of the inning.

Lily Stanford drove in Maddox with a triple and scored on a hit by Emily Needham. Emily Darby also had an RBI single.

Aleigha Davis picked up the win in the circle, allowing five hits over six innings along with two runs, one earned, while walking six and striking out four.

Bailey Campbell went 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Vikings.

St. James (17-3-1) returned to action in the tournament against Pike Liberal Arts.

Emily Darby went 2 for 3 with a home run and drove in three runs and Kaitlyn Hudson and Emily Needham both went 2 for 4 to lead the Trojans to an 11-3 win over the Patriots on Saturday afternoon in the Alex Wilcox FCS Softball Tournament at Lagoon Park Softball Complex.

Needham pitched a one hitter for St. James (18-3-1), allowing three runs, one earned, while striking out eight and walking three.

Julianne Meyer had the Patriots’ lone hit.  

 

BASEBALL

Montgomery Academy 12, Autauga Academy 0

HOLTVILLE -- Montgomery Academy defeated Autauga Academy for the second time in as many days to finish 3-0 in the Slapout Wood Bat Classic.

Reid McBride threw six shutout innings. He allowed two hits and struck out 14 batters. He also had two hits and two RBIs.

Paxton Haigler had three hits and three RBIs for Montgomery Academy, while Hays Marks and William Marks each had two RBIs.
