SEC TOURNEY: Tuesday weather changes Wednesday schedule with Bama/Tennessee moving to afternoon slot

Impending bad weather on Tuesday night has created a change in the scheduling for Wednesday’s round of baseball at the Southeastern Conference Tournament in Hoover.

SEC officials pushed the final game of the first day of the tournament back to Wednesday morning with Texas A&M facing Mississippi State. The game will start at 9:30 a.m.

As a result, No. 9 seed Alabama’s second round matchup with No. 8 seed Tennessee will not start until approximately 12:45 p.m. or 30 minutes after the first game ends.

The change also affects Auburn’s initial game in the tournament. The Tigers, the No. 6 seed, will play the first game on Thursday at 11 a.m. against either Texas A&M or Mississippi State. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday evening.

Per a release from the SEC, ticket holders with tickets for Session 2 and Session 3 will be admitted to Games 4 and 5 on Wednesday.  Ticket holders with tickets for Session 3 and Session 4 will be admitted to Games 6 and 7 on Wednesday. Ticket holders with tickets to Session 4 will also be admitted to the 11 a.m. game on Thursday.

Should Alabama defeat Tennessee, the Tide would face top-seed Texas on Thursday at 3 p.m.

Alabama reached the second round with a 4-1 victory over Missouri. Tennessee received a bye into the second round.

The two teams faced off earlier in the season with Tennessee taking two of three games.

Other games on Tuesday included Oklahoma defeating Kentucky, 5-1, to advance to face fifth-seed Georgia. Florida defeated South Carolina, 11-3, and will face seventh-seed Ole Miss.
