Southeastern Conference announces football schedules for next four years

The Southeastern Conference made the official announcement on Tuesday that football schedules would go to nine games and include three permanent rival games for each team.

That along with the full conference schedules were announced during a TV special on the SEC Network.

The league completed the schedules for the next four years with possible changes made available after the 2029 season.

Alabama will have Auburn, Tennessee and Mississippi State as its permanent opponents. Auburn will have Alabama, Georgia and Vanderbilt.

Dates of the games will be announced later this year.

According to the announcement from the SEC, “annual opponents were determined with consideration given to traditional rivalries, competitive fairness, geography and alignment with existing non-conference home/away commitments.”

With a nine-game schedule, half of the league will have one less home game than road games each season. In 2026, Both Auburn and Alabama will have just four conference home games.

The opponents will rotate each season with the idea that a team will play every other team at least once every two seasons and twice over a four-year period.

Alabama is scheduled to open the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 against East Carolina, which came about after the home-and-home series against West Virginia was cancelled. The Crimson Tide’s other two non-conference games are with South Florida and Florida State. All three games are at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The schedule includes games South Carolina, Texas A&M and a home game against Georgia, which will be three straight years to face the Bulldogs. The Tide will also go to Baton Rouge to play LSU.

Auburn will open 2026 with three home games including Baylor on Sept. 5, followed by games against Southern Miss and Jacksonville State. The Tigers will also play Florida for the first time since 2019, LSU (2023) and Tennessee (2020).
