THURSDAY PREPS: Trinity girls dominate JAG; ACA boys edge Reeltown

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Trinity 68, JAG 20
Lilly Smith scored 20 points to lead the Wildcats to a 68-20 win over the Jaguars in the opening round of the Jack Schweers Capital City Conference Tournament at Trinity’s Captain Jack Court on Thursday afternoon.
Trinity (9-3) will play the winner of Thursday’s game between G.W. Long and Wetumpka on Friday at 2 p.m. in the semifinals of the tournament.
Ellie Causey added 18 points for the Wildcats, followed by Lizzie Causey with 10 points, five steals and five assists and Emory Causey with seven points.
Midfield 57, Prattville Christian 45
Baylee Rogers led the Panthers with 14 points and four rebounds in a 57-45 loss to Midfield in the opening round of the Jack Schweers Capital City Conference Tournament on Thursday at Trinity.
Reagan Houston added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists for PCA, followed by Laney Little with eight points and 15 rebounds. Leah Cate Wilson added six points and 17 rebounds, while Avery Mann had six points.
PCA (4-10) will play Glenwood School in the second round of the tournament on Froday at 2 p.m.
Reeltown 52, Alabama Christian 46
Alabama Christian fell behind early and could never catch up, falling to Reeltown 52-46 on Thursday in the ACA gym.
Campbell Hammett led ACA with 16 points and eight rebounds, followed by Adalyn Newkirk with 13 points and seven rebounds and Peri Laine Holley with six points and four rebounds.
Serenthia McKethern led Reeltown (4-0) with 21 points, followed by Aleija Love with 12, hitting four 3-pointers.
ACA (5-5) will return to action at home on Dec. 30 against Prattville Christian.
Southern Academy 52, Hooper Academy 23
GREENSBORO -- Laura Kyser scored 19 points and Abby Sluder added 11 as the Southern Academy girls defeated Hooper Academy 52-23 in the opening round of the Southern Academy Christmas Tournament on Thursday.
Hooper got off to a slow start, falling behind 18-5 in the first quarter and 30-10 at the half. Henlee Garvin led the Colts with seven points, followed by Katie Robinson with six and Jade Taylor with five.
Hooper (7-5) will return to action in the tournament on Friday.
Edgewood Academy 64, Macon East 62
CECIL -- Edgewood snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 64-62 win over the Knights in the Macon East gym on Thursday night.
Jamya Powell led Macon East with 30 points, 23 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Addie Longcrier added 21 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.
Edgewood (2-9) will play at Exekial on Friday while Macon East will travel to Eufaula to play in the Lakeside School Christmas Tournament.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Alabama Christian 48, Reeltown 40
Levi Summers scored 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Eagles to a 48-40 win over Reeltown on Thursday night in the ACA gym.
Mason Henry added nine points, six rebounds and four steals, followed by Noah Shack with seven points.
Alijah Love led Reeltown (0-4) with 11 points, followed by Hudson Wood with nine.
ACA (5-6) will return to action on Dec. 30 at home against Prattville Christian.
Hooper Academy 53, Southern Academy 46
GREENSBORO -- Jeremy Griggs scored 12 points and Bradee Colvett added 11 to lead the Colts to a 53-46 win over Southern in the opening round of the Southern Academy Christmas Tournament on Thursday.
Hooper will play North River Christian on Friday in the championship game at 3:30 p.m.
Evangel Christian 48, Heritage Christian 39
D'John Wright scored 17 points to lead Evangel to a nine-point win over Heritage Christian on Thursday. Damon Petty added 11 points.
The Lions (4-3) will travel to the Lakeside Christmas Tournament in Eufaula to play the host team Lakeside in the first game at 9 a.m.
Macon East Academy 52, Edgewood Academy 41
CECIL -- Jermaine Pena scored 18 points to help the Knights snap the Wildcats’ six-game winning streak with a 52-41 win over Edgewood in the Macon East gym on Thursday night.
Sam Wallace added 15 points, followed by Jackson Todd with 10 points. Elliot Fitch had 10 rebounds for the Knights, which travel to Eufaula to play in the Lakeside School Christmas Tournament on Friday.
Edgewood (8-3) will travel to Ezekial on Friday.
Marina 57, Prattville Christian 52
Carter Fiacco and Cody Chapman combined for 35 points, but it wasn’t enough to catch Marina High as the visitors from Huntingdon Beach, Calif., defeated the Panthers 57-52 in the opening round of the Jack Schweers Capital City Conference Tournament at Trinity on Thursday.
Fiacco finished with 18 points, while Chapman had 17 points and four steals. Wade Mora added eight points and seven rebounds and Justin Chapman grabbed 11 rebounds. Ethan Girlie added five points and five assists and CJ Robinson scored three points.
PCA (5-9) will play BTW Magnet in the second round of the tournament on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
