TUESDAY PREPS: MA'S Brown wins 100th singles match; St. James softball tames ACA

BOYS TENNIS
Montgomery Academy 7, Auburn 2
Jackson Brown won his 100th singles match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Martin Lee of Auburn as the Eagles defeated Class 7A Section 2 rival Auburn High School 7-2 on Tuesday at McLemore Tennis Center.
Jackson became just the second player in MA tennis history to win 100 singles matches and 100 doubles matches. The only other player to achieve that milestone is1996 graduate Brett Ialacci.
Liam Baker, Duncan McInnes and Anton Yang won singles matches for the Eagles and the doubles teams of Brown-Yang, Ford Morano-McInnes and Baker-Bo Johnston swept doubles matches.
Montgomery Academy (14-2) will play host to LAMP at home on Wednesday.
GIRLS TENNIS
Auburn 7, Montgomery Academy 2
Montgomery Academy managed to win a singles match and a doubles match, but fell to Auburn High 7-2 in a match at McLemore Tennis Center on Monday.
In singles, Auburn won five of the six matches, with Charlotte Vann winning for MA at No. 4 in a tight battle with Aniston Skipworth.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Lola Campbell and Alyssa Kaplan won.
Montgomery Academy (12-7) fell to 6-1 in Class 7A Section 2 play.
SOFTBALL
St. James 12, Alabama Christian 2
Emily Needham pitched a two-hitter as the Trojans defeated Alabama Christian 12-2 in a game shortened to six innings by the mercy rule.
The Trojans scored a run in each of the first three innings before Alabama Christian scored a pair of runs in the fourth to trim the deficit to 3-2. St. James responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, five more in the fifth and a run in the sixth to end the game.
Kaitlyn Hudson went 3 for 3 and scored four times to lead the Trojans at the plate. Emily Darby went 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and drove in five RBIs.
Trinity 11, Montgomery Academy 2
Layla Pelt pitched a complete game two hitter, striking out five Montgomery Academy batters, as the Wildcats defeated the Eagles in a 3A Area 5 game at Trinity on Tuesday.
At the plate, Trinity was led by Harper Johnson, who went 4 for 5 with four runs scored, and Emma Rose Meldrum, who went 4 for 5 with five RBIs and three runs scored. Emory Harris was 3 for 4 with three RBIs.
Trinity is back in action with another area game on Thursday at ACA at 4 p.m.
BOYS SOCCER
Enterprise 3, Montgomery Academy 2
Jacob Stubblefield scored a pair of goals but the Eagles dropped a hard-fought area game against Enterprise, 3-2, at McLemore Field on Tuesday.
Goalkeeper Grady Ming delivered a strong performance with 10 saves, making several key stops to keep the Eagles within reach.
Montgomery Academy fell to 7-8-2 overall and 5-1 in area play.
Lee-Scott Academy 6, Prattville Christian 0
AUBURN -- The Warriors shut out Prattville Christian 6-0 in a soccer game on Tuesday.
PCA (2-10) will returns home and play host to Glenwood School on Friday.
Montgomery Academy 10, JAG 0
Montgomery Academy dominated JAG 10-0 in an area matchup at McLemore Field on Friday.
Jacob Stubblefield scored three goals for the Eagles, while Hayes Lachney added multiple goals of his own and Hampton Welch also turned in a strong performance with several finishes to help fuel the scoring surge.
Additional goals came from Jess Veale and Drew Phenix as Montgomery Academy received contributions up and down the lineup in a well-balanced offensive effort.
Montgomery Academy (7-7-2) remains home to play host to Enterprise on Tuesday.
Montgomery Academy 8, Trinity 1
Montgomery Academy put together a dominant performance in an 8-1 win over Trinity on Thursday.
Hayes Lachney and Reeves Hall each added a goal, while Hampton Welch and Jacob Stubblefield led the way with hat tricks, accounting for six of the team’s eight goals.
Montgomery Academy (6-7-2) will play host to JAG on Senior Night on Friday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Enterprise 7, Montgomery Academy 0
The Eagles were shut out at home by the Wildcats in an area matchup at McLemore Field on Tuesday.
Montgomery Academy (3-6) dropped to 2-2 in area play and will play the Wildcats in Enterprise on April 17.
Lee-Scott Academy 9, Prattville Christian 0
AUBURN -- The Warriors shut out Prattville Christian in a soccer match on Tuesday.
PCA (1-8-3) will return home and play host to Glenwood School on Friday.
Montgomery Academy 10, JAG 0
Ella Pemberton scored six goals and assisted on two others as the Eagles dominated the Jaguars on Senior Night at McLemore Field on Friday.
Kirsten Thomas added two goals with three assists, Anne Emory Smith had a goal and an assist and Kayla Bledsoe had a goal and an assist. Cara Hall had a pair of assists.
Montgomery Academy (3-5) improved to 2-1 in area play and will remain home to play Enterprise on Tuesday.
