Jefferson scored on a 2-yard run and Davis threw a pair of touchdown passes to put Dadeville in front 18-0 before the Trojans finally scored midway through the third quarter on a 21-yard Cameron Hartley run. Dadeville answered with a touchdown before Hartley countered with a 39-yard run two minutes later to trim the deficit to 24-13. The Trojans would get no closer, however, as Jefferson scored late in the third quarter and again three minutes into the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.
Both teams endured a two hour, 20 minute lightning delay at halftime.
It was the largest margin of defeat for a St. James team in a season opener since losing at Elmore County (41-7) in 2006 and the most points allowed in a season opener since losing at Maplesville (58-8) in 1980.
St. James (0-1) returns home to play host to Jemison next week, while Dadeville (1-0) travels to Pacelli Ga.

Summers finished with six receptions for 123 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the defense with 11 tackles. Henry passed for 222 yards and three scores on 20 of 39 attempts. He also had 44 yards rushing.
