PREP UPDATE: Park Crossing girls win regional and returns to defend hoops title; Montgomery Academy tennis sweeps matches

Park Crossing got 18 points from Maliyah Meeks along with two other players in double figures to earn a 56-39 win over McGill-Toolen in the AHSAA Class 6A girls South Regional Final at Garrett Coliseum on Wednesday.
The win puts the T-Birds in the Class 6A state semifinals for a second-consecutive season. They will be looking for a second state title after winning last year.
The T-Birds (30-3) led by as many as 22 points but held just a five point lead at halftime. They made just three shots beyond the arc but dominated the boards with a 56-26 advantage.
Trinity Adams added 12 points while Tariah McGee added 11 points for Park Crossing, which will face Fort Payne next Wednesday at noon at the BJCC Legacy Arena.
Meeks was named tournament MVP after a combined 42 points and 22 rebounds in the two games. McGee and Kamryn Kelly were named to the All-Tournament team.
BOYS TENNIS
Montgomery Academy 9, Dothan 0
DOTHAN -- Montgomery Academy swept section foe Dothan 9-0 in singles and doubles at Westgate Park on Wednesday.
Singles winners for Montgomery Academy were Jackson Brown, Duncan McInnis, Anton Yang, Bo Johnston, Blevins Henderson and Gaines Burnham. Double winners for the Eagles were Brown-Yang, McInnis-Henderson and Johnston-Burnham.
Montgomery Academy (8-1) will travel to Vestavia Hills on Tuesday in a battle between last year’s 7A state champion and runner-up.
Montgomery Academy 9, St. James 0
Jackson Brown continued his record setting season by becoming the Montgomery Academy career leader in doubles win, teaming with Anton Yang to defeat St. James at No. 1 doubles to record his 116th doubles win on Tuesday.
The Eagles defeated the Trojans 9-0, sweeping both singles and doubles at O’Connor Tennis Center.
Singles winners were Brown, Duncan McInnis, Yang, Bo Johnston, Blevins Henderson and Gaines Burnham. In addition to Brown and Yang, McInnis and Henderson won at No. 2 and Johnston and Burnham won at No. 3.
Montgomery Academy (7-1) will travel to Dothan to play the Wolves in a section match on Wednesday.
GIRLS TENNIS
Montgomery Academy 8, Dothan 1
DOTHAN -- Montgomery Academy swept the doubles and won five of the six singles matches to improve to 3-0 in section play with a win over Dothan at Westgate Park on Wednesday.
Singles winners for the Eagles were Alyssa Kaplan, Mary Surhea White, Charlotte Vann, Lillian Cameron and Bailey Davis.
Dothan’s Ella Brown won at No. 1 singles, defeating Lola Campbell.
In doubles, the teams of Campbell-Kaplan, White-Davis and Cameron-Vann recorded wins.
Montgomery Academy improved to 6-5 with the win.
Montgomery Academy 7, St. James 2
Montgomery Academy won five of the six singles matches against the Trojans on Tuesday to secure the win over the Trojans at McLemore Tennis Center.
Winning in singles were Lola Campbell over Raleigh Covert at No. 1, Alyssa Kaplan over Haley Hust at No. 2, Mary Surhea White over Emily Trock at No. 3, Charlotte Vann over David Wilsford at No. 4 and Lillian Cameron over Olivia Willis at No. 5.
At No. 6, St. James’ Bailey Woods defeated Sailor Vance.
In doubles, Campbell-Kaplan defeated Hust-Trock at No. 1, but White-Davis had a tough match at No. 2 and stayed tough in their tie break to win their line over Willis-Wilsford.
At No. 3, Covert and Woods of St. James teamed up to defeat Vann-Vance.
Montgomery Academy (5-5) will travel to Dothan for a section match with the Wolves on Wednesday.
BASEBALL
Montgomery Academy 24, Luverne 7
The Eagles scored nine runs in the first inning and 10 runs in the second to take control over the Class 2A Tigers on Tuesday.
Paxton Haigler and Vincent Desautels each had three hits and three RBIs. William Marks had three hits, four runs scored and 2 RBIs. Kingston Nelson and Reid McBride each had 4 RBIs. Chapman Baker and Hays Marks each had two hits and two RBIs.
BOYS SOCCER
Montgomery Academy 13, JAG 0
The Eagles put up 13 goals in an impressive offensive showing in their second area game on Tuesday vs JAG.
Jacob Stubblefield, Hampton Welch, Doc McIntyre, Drew Phenix and Harris Armstrong each scored two goals, while Gage Holloway, Brody Watrous and Evans Williford added one each.
The ball movement was just as strong with Hayes Lachney finishing with two assists. Hampton Welch, Jacob Stubblefield, Harris Armstrong and Gage Holloway each had one creating multiple scoring attempts for the Eagles.
Brew Tech 5, Prattville Christian 0
PRATTVILLE -- Prattville Christian was shut out at Panther Stadium for the second consecutive game and fell to Brew Tech 5-0 on Tuesday.
PCA (0-2) will play host to Catholic on Friday.
GIRLS SOCCER
Montgomery Academy 10, JAG 0
The Eagles defeated JAG 10-0 in a Class 7A Area 3 game on Tuesday.
Montgomery Academy (2-3) improved to 1-0 in area play and will travel to Auburn on Friday at 5 p.m.
Prattville Christian 1, Brew Tech 1
PRATTVILLE -- Prattville Christian’s Addison Sutton scored with an assist from Jessie Patton to help the Panthers salvage a tie match with Brew Tech on Tuesday at Panther Stadium.
PCA (0-1-1) will play host to Catholic on Friday.
