BOYS BASKETBALL
St. James 52, Alabama Christian 37
Wilson Aman scored 22 points, including 12 of 12 at the free-throw line, to lead the Trojans to a 52-37 win over Alabama Christian in the St. James gym on Monday night.
Aman also had eight rebounds and six assists in the win. Dylan Hines added 12 points and 12 rebounds, Jordan Williams had six points and 10 rebounds and Caleb Ellis had six points.
It was the first 3A Area 5 victory for the Trojans. Montgomery Academy leads the area at 4-0, followed by Thorsby at 2-0, Dallas County at 2-2, St. James at 1-3 and ACA at 0-4.
Christian Snipes led Alabama Christian with 14 points.
St. James (7-7) travels to Marbury on Tuesday, then returns home to play host to Thorsby on Thursday.
ACA (6-11) plays host to Dallas County on Thursday, then travels to Montgomery Academy on Friday.
Prattville Christian 49, Elmore County 30
PRATTVILLE -- Cody Chapman had 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots to lead the Panthers to a 19-point win over Elmore County in the PCA gym on Monday night.
Ethan Girlie added 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Wade Mora grabbed seven rebounds and Justin Chapman had six. CJ Robinson had three points and four rebounds, Carter Fiacco scored six points and Ethan Kiefer scored three points.
PCA (10-11) will play host to Bibb County on Friday for Senior Night. The Choctaws are 4-0 in 4A Area 6 play, while PCA is in second place at 2-2.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. James 88, Alabama Christian 19
Natalie Barton scored 21 points, along with five rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead the Trojans to an 88-19 win over Alabama Christian on Monday night in the St. James gym.
Kaitlin Mitchell added 16 points, three rebounds, an assist and eight steals, followed by Morgan Lilly with 13 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals, Kaden Fair with 12 points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal and Jordyn McRae with 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.
The Trojans remained in first place in 3A Area 5 with the win, improving to 3-0, followed by Thorsby (2-0), Montgomery Academy (2-1), Dallas County (1-3) and Alabama Christian (0-4).
St. James (17-3) travels to Marbury on Tuesday, then returns home to play host to Thorsby on Thursday.
Alabama Christian (6-9) plays host to Dallas County on Thursday, then travels to Montgomery Academy on Friday.
Prattville Christian 53, Elmore County 36
PRATTVILLE -- Reagan Houston and Baylee Rogers combined for 30 points in PCA’s 53-36 win over Elmore County on Monday night.
Houston had 16 points and five rebounds, while Rogers had 14 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Laney Little added 11 points and eight rebounds, followed by Leah Cate Wilson with five points, 13 rebounds and five steals and Avery Mann with five points, four rebounds and four assists.
PCA (9-11) will play host to Bibb County on Friday night for Senior Night. Both PCA and Bibb County are 4-0 in 4A Area 6 play.
WRESTLING
PCA wins 13-team Panther Invitational
PRATTVILLE -- PCA placed eight wrestlers in the top four to capture the 13-team Panther Invitational in the PCA gym on Saturday.
PCA won the event with 132 points, followed by Holtville (109) and Alabama School for the Blind (92). Deshler and Thomasville tied for fourth place with 91 points each, followed by Catholic (85), Westminster Christian (80), W.S. Neal (64.5), Escambia County (63.5), St. James (59.5), Houston Academy (53), Pike Road (47.5) and Northside Methodist (10).
For the Panthers, Bryson Bowman and Carter Copeland were tournament champions in their respective weight divisions, while Ryan Lueck and Orion Garrett were runner-up, Brysen Pugh and Cole Young were third and Jens Johnson and Logan Wesch finished fourth.
Tournament champions included Pike Road’s Hank Posey at 108 pounds; Catholic’s Edmund Feil at 115 pounds; St. James’ Noah Rains at 122 pounds; Deshler’s Jalen Gunn at 128 pounds; Escambia County’s Cordaryl Lewis at 134 pounds; Thomasville’s Cooper Elam at 140 pounds; Houston Academy’s Abe Haskins at 146 pounds; Pike Road’s Jack Posey at 152 pounds; Westminster Christian’s Raif Robinson at 159 pounds; Copeland at 167 pounds; Catholic’s Caleb Armstrong at 177 pounds; Alabama School for the Blind’s Christopher Weaver at 192 pounds; Bowman at 217 pounds; and Deshler’s Aaron Holmes at 287 pounds.
Catholic’s Carter Anderson was runner-up at 134 pounds, while Catholic’s Luke Reeves was runner-up at 140 pounds. Lueck was second at 146 pounds and Holtville’s Dylan Farris was runner-up at 159 pounds, while teammate Gavin Byrd was runner-up at 217 pounds. Garrett finished second at 287 pounds.
