RRS NOTES: Biscuits to hold fan fest/new owner intro on Wednesday; Tallassee earns trip to wrestling Duals

The new owners of the Montgomery Biscuits want to meet the public.
OnDeck Partners will hold a fan fest and ribbon cutting on Wednesday at Riverwalk Stadium celebrating its long-term, community-first vision for Biscuits baseball. The event will feature a symbolic on-field ribbon cutting along with local vendors, family activities and opportunities to capture how the Biscuits continue to serve as a unifying hub for Montgomery.
There will be welcome remarks from 4:30-4:45 p.m., followed by the ribbon cutting. A block-party-style community fan fest featuring local vendors, music, and family activities will follow from 5-7:30 p.m. The event will wrap up with closing remarks at 7:30 p.m., including an opening day tease.
The Biscuits will open their 23rd season of baseball on Friday, April 3 in Pensacola. Opening Night will be held on Tuesday, April 7, in Riverwalk against Columbus.
Tallassee wrestlers headed back to Duals
For the fourth straight season, the Tallassee wrestling team has reached the AHSAA Duals Semifinals. The Tigers beat Orange Beach (69-15) and Bayside (59-21) to clinch a spot. Alexandria, Oak Grove and Deshler are the other Class 1A-4A qualifiers.
Tallassee carries a 36-1 duals record into the “Final Four” with aspirations of repeating last year’s championship. The team’s only defeat this season came against Wakulla, Fla. (37-33) in the finals of the “Beast at the Beach” championship at Fort Walton. That loss snapped a streak of 73 consecutive duals-match wins and was the first since losing to Scottsboro in the duals final in 2024.
The Tigers will compete in. the semifinals on Friday at 9 a.m. with coverage available on WTLS Radio at the Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham.
ASU tennis opens with a split in matches
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Alabama State University men's tennis opened the 2026 spring season with a dominant sweep before running into a nationally ranked opponent Sunday at the Indoor Tennis Courts in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Hornets opened the weekend with a 7-0 victory over The Citadel, earning wins in all three doubles matches and all six singles flights to secure the program's first win of the season.
Alabama State took control early in doubles play, highlighted by victories from the pairs of Vid Maric and Gordan Mileusnic at No. 2 and Matteo Lataste and Martin Catrice at No. 3. In singles action, the Hornets were efficient across the lineup, with straight-set wins from Milan Ristov, Martin Catrice, Gordan Mileusnic, Flor De Sitter and Loris Gueli. Vid Maric capped the sweep with a hard-fought three-set win at the No. 4 position, winning the super tiebreak to close out the match.
Later on Sunday, Alabama State faced a stiff challenge against No. 22 Florida State and saw the match halted after the Seminoles secured the four points needed for a 4-0 decision..
