McGill-Toolen 5, Montgomery Academy 4
Montgomery Academy lost a closely contested match with McGill-Toolen at the McLemore Tennis Center on Thursday.
A close match in all lines, the Eagles faltered in tie breaks at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles.
Montgomery Academy 9, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 0
Montgomery Academy received an unexpected boost from eighth-grade junior varsity player Fiona Pollard on Monday, who stepped in for victories at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles to help the Eagles to a 9-0 win over Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa at McLemore Tennis Center.
In singles, the Eagles got wins from Lola Campbell at No. 1, Alyssa Kaplan at No. 2, Mary Surhea White at No. 3, Charlotte Vann at No. 4, Lillian Cameron at No. 5 and Pollard at No. 6.
Montgomery Academy swept the doubles with Campbell-Kaplan winning at No. 1, White-Vann at No. 2 and Cameron-Pollard at No. 3.
Montgomery Academy remains home to play McGill-Toolen on Thursday.
BOYS TENNIS
McGill-Toolen 5, Montgomery Academy 4
Montgomery Academy dropped a tough 5-4 loss to McGill-Toolen on Thursday in a tennis match at the Montgomery Country Club.
Singles winners for the Eagles were Duncan McInnis, Anton Yang and Bo Johnston.
Yang and Johnston picked up the lone win in doubles.
Montgomery Academy (6-1) will play St. James at O’Connor Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Montgomery Academy 7, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 2
Jackson Brown won his singles match to become the winningest player in Montgomery Academy history as the Eagles defeated Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 7-2 on Mondat at McLemore Tennis Center.
Brown and Ford Morano lost the doubles match to open play, but the senior rebounded to win his match at No. 1 to record his 208th career victory, topping John Alford and Brett Ialacci with 207.
Other singles winners for the Eagles were Liam Baker, Duncan McInnis, Morano, Anton Yang and Bo Johnston. Yang and Johnston recorded the Eagles’ only doubles win.
Montgomery Academy (6-0) will face McGill-Toolen on Thursday.
BOYS SOCCER
Vestavia Hills 5, Montgomery Academy 1
The Eagles battled hard but fell 5–1 to Vestavia Hills in a tough matchup on Thursday at McLemore Field. Vestavia capitalized early with two penalty kicks in the first half, putting MA in a difficult position heading into the break.
Despite the setback, the Eagles continued to compete and found the back of the net when Brody Watrous scored off an assist from Jacob Stubblefield, giving MA a spark of momentum.
Goalkeeper Grady Ming recorded 14 saves overall. Montgomery Academy kept making the Vestavia goalkeeper work but did not get another breakthrough.
Montgomery Academy 10, G.W. Carver 0
Harris Armstrong scored three of the Eagles’ 10 goals in the first half as Montgomery Academy defeated the Wolverines 10-0 in a 7A area game on Monday at McLemore Field.
In addition to Armstrong, Hampton Welch had two goals and an assist, Jacob Stubblefield scored two goals and had four assists and Brody Watrous, Jess Veale and Doc McIntyre each scored a goal.
Goalkeeper Grady Ming preserved the shutout, recording one save.
GIRLS SOCCER
Montgomery Academy 4, Trinity 0
Montgomery Academy goalkeeper Ella Grace Chamblee preserved the shutout and the Eagles won their first game of the 2026 season in a 4-0 shutout of Trinity on Saturday.
Ella Harding Pemberton scored a pair of goals, one with an assist from Cara Hall, another on an assist by Lucy Hubbard.
Hubbard also scored a goal with an assist by Hall. Tara Samant had a goal as well with an assist from Suzanne Holmes.
Catholic 4, Trinity 0
Catholic got three goals from eighth graders as the Knights defeated Trinity 4-0 on Friday.
The game-winning first goal was scored by eighth grader Andrea Diaz assisted by junior Chayse Jordan. Diaz also scored the game’s second goal with an assist by junior Aurora Lemuz.
Lemuz assisted on the third and fourth goals scored by eighth grader Amelia Pettah and sophomore Abby Talbot, respectively.
Goalkeeping duties were handled by freshman Kyleigh Harris -- no shots on goal, so no saves but did secure the shutout victory.
BASEBALL
Andalusia 5, Montgomery Academy 4
Hays Marks went 2 for 4 with two RBIs as the Eagles opened the season in a back-and-forth game that ended with an Andalusia victory over the Eagles on Thursday.
Reid McBride threw a no-hitter through the first three innings, striking out seven.
Hudson Bradshaw went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and William Marks had a hit and an RBI.
