GIRLS BASKETBALL

Trinity 54, Brew Tech 30

Ellie Causey hit eight 3-pointers to lead the Wildcats to a 24-point win in the Brew Tech gym on Friday.

Causey finished with 26 points, followed by Lilly Smith with 12 points and Emory Causey with eight.   

Trinity (10-5) opens 4A Area 5 play on Tuesday at Catholic.

 

Hooper Academy 40, Trinity Christian 17
OPELIKA -- Hooper outscored Trinity 14-0 in the first quarter and maintained that cushion for the remainder of the game to win the Class A Region 1 Area 2 opener for both teams on Friday in the Trinity gym.

Marilyn Fleming led the Colts with 13 points, followed by Jenna Conway with 10, Jade Taylor with eight and Katie Robinson with six.

Emily Miller led Trinity with 13 points, including all eight of her team’s points in the fourth quarter.

Hooper (9-6 overall, 1-0 in area play) remains on the road, traveling to Edgewood on Tuesday for an area game.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Trinity Christian 57, Hooper Academy 42
OPELIKA-- Reid House scored 24 points, including 11 in a decisive second quarter, as Trinity Christian defeated Hooper Academy 57-42 in the Class A Region 1 Area 2 opener for both teams on Friday night.

Hooper led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter, but Trinity grabbed the momentum in the second quarter with a 24-7 run for a 15-point halftime lead. Hooper trimmed the deficit to 10 points in the third quarter but could get no closer.

Kingston White led the Colts with 21 points, including 15 in the second half. Tramen Davenport added 11 as the Colts’ six-game winning streak was snapped.

Hooper (12-4 overall, 0-1 in area play) will stay on the road and face Edgewood on Tuesday in another area game.

 

Booker T. Washington-Tuskegee 65, Catholic 63

Catholic battled Booker T. Washington evenly despite a poor shooting night before falling to the Golden Eagles 65-63 in the 4A Area 5 opener for both teams in the Catholic gym on Friday night.

Mylez Gourdine led the Knights with 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals, followed by Matthias Gourdine with 13 points, three assists and three steals, MJ Belser with 11 points and 12 rebounds, along with three blocked shots, Fred Lewis with eight points and six rebounds and Dezmont Simpson with seven points.

Catholic will play host to Trinity in another Area 5 contest on Tuesday.
