WEEKEND PREPS: Macon East advances boys, girls hoops to Quarters; Tallassee, Elmore County take wrestling sectionals

BOYS BASKETBALL
Thorsby 64, Alabama Christian 57
THORSBY -- Ethan Capps hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter to help Alabama Christian to a five-point halftime lead, but the fourth-seeded Rebels rallied in the second half to eliminate the fifth-seeded Eagles in the opening round of the 3A Area 5 Tournament in the Thorsby gym on Friday night.
Alabama Christian ends the season at 7-18. Thorsby advances to the tournament semifinals against top-seeded Montgomery Academy at MA’s Joe Mooty Court on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Capps finished with 14 points and five rebounds and it was hit trio of 3-pointers that helped ACA to a 30-25 halftime lead, but Braylon Carroll hit two of his six 3-pointers in the third quarter to help the Rebels regain the lead at 48-43 heading into the fourth quarter.
Max Burnett led Thorsby with 22 points, including 15 in the second half, followed by Carroll with 19 points and Javien Cooper with 11.
Cole Jordan added 12 points and four assists for the Eagles, followed by Christian Snipes with 10 points and six rebounds and Mason Henry with 10 points, four assists and three rebounds.
Prattville Christian 75, West Blocton 15
PRATTVILLE -- Cody Chapman and Carter Fiacco combined for 52 points as Prattville Christian blasted West Blocton 75-15 in the opening round of the 4A Area 6 Tournament in the PCA gym on Friday night.
Prattville Christian (14-16) advanced to the area tournament semifinals in Centreville on Monday, facing top-seeded Bibb County at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the finals and earns a berth in the sub-regional round.
Chapman led the Panthers with 28 points and seven steals, while Fiacco added 24 points, five rebounds and four assists. Wade Mora had five points, five rebounds and four steals and Justin Chapman added four points, five rebounds and four assists. Ethan Girlie had three points, five assists and four steals. CJ Robinson grabbed 5 rebounds. Ethan Kiefer, Cooper Bailey, and Spencer Wilson each scored three points.
Prattville Christian 58, Elmore County 53 (Thursday)
ECLECTIC -- Carter Fiacco led the Panthers with 22 points and seven rebounds as PCA closed out the regular season with a 58-53 win in the Elmore County gym on Thursday night.
Cody Chapman added 21 points and six assists, followed by Ethan Girlie with five points and Wade Mora with four points and six rebounds. Justin Chapman grabbed 10 rebounds. Ethan Kiefer and CJ Robinson each scored three points.
PCA (13-16) will return home to play fifth-seeded West Blocton on Friday in the opening round of the 4A Area 6 Tournament.
Macon East 50, Hooper Academy 40
CECIL - Jackson Todd pumped in 16 points and added eight rebounds to lead the Knights to a berth in the AISA Class A quarterfinals on Friday.
Brandon Fitch added 11 points and 14 rebounds while Sam Wallace scored seven points, grabbed six rebounds plus added five assists and two steals in the win.
The Knights will play Escambia Academy on Wednesday at Garrett Coliseum. Tip off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Macon East 54, Trinity Christian 19
CECIL - Addie Longcrier scored 22 points to lead Macon East to the quarterfinals of the Girls Class A quarterfinals on Friday.
Longcrier added fie assists and six steals for Macon East. Jamya also scored in double figures with 18 points and pulled down 20 rebounds.
The Lady Knights will face Escambia Academy at Garrett Coliseum Wednesday beginning at 3 p.m.
Prattville Christian 34, Elmore County 24
ECLECTIC -- Leah Cate Wilson had nine points and 11 rebounds to lead Prattville Christian to a 34-24 win in the regular season finale in the Elmore County gym on Thursday night.
Laney Little added six points and eight rebounds, followed by Avery Mann with six points and six rebounds, Baylee Rogers with five points, seven rebounds and five assists, Reagan Houston with five points and Kayleigh Arthur with three.
PCA (16-13) returns home to play host to the 4A Area 6 Tournament, facing west Blocton in the tournament semifinals on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tallassee claims Class 1A-4A sectional title; Elmore County takes 5A Sectional
Defending Class 1A/4A state champion Tallassee posted 238 points at Montgomery’s Garrett Coliseum to claim the AHSAA South Section title Friday.
Prattville Christian finished fourth.
Elmore County capture the Class 5A South Section crown with 238 points. Holtville finished fourth.
Tallassee’s girls finished second in the Class 1A-4A sectional, trailing Dadeville in to standings.
